ESGO-ISUOG Consensus statements on ultrasound-guided biopsy in gynaecological oncology

The European Society of Gynaecological Oncology (ESGO) and  International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology (ISUOG) have jointly developed the consensus statements on ultrasound-guided biopsy in gynecologic oncology.

The international multidisciplinary team of experts, led by Prof. Daniela Fischerova (ESGO/ISUOG), specialized in gynaecological oncology, ultrasonography, radiology, pathology and cardiology formed a working group of 18 participants. The group achieved consensus on 46 statements in the first round of voting.

The article is expected to be published jointly in the International Journal of gynaecological oncology (IJGC) and Ultrasound in Obstetrics & Gynecology (UOG) in March 2025.

ESGO Cervical cancer resource-stratified guidelines

A multidisciplinary international development group led by Prof. David Cibula (ESGO) and consisting of 22 experts identified potential limitations to the standards of care as defined in the current updated ESGO-ESTRO-ESP Cervical cancer guidelines published in 2023 and suggested alternative approaches. The working group followed a global ESGO survey run in 2023 which involved 256 clinicians from 57 countries and pointed out potential limitations/barriers and missing recommendations. The new resource-stratified guidelines on the management of women living with human immunodeficiency virus have also been proposed. To ensure a global perspective, the guidelines were reviewed by independent international practitioners from Asia, Africa, Europe, South, Central and North Americas.

The article is expected to be published in Q2 2025.
