PSOGI-ESGO-ISSPP consensus on cytoreductive surgery for peritoneal malignancies (the Lyon consensus) Nomenclature and boundaries of peritonectomy procedures In 2024, the ESGO has joined the initiative of the Peritoneal Surface Oncology Group International (PSOGI) and the International Society for Study of Pleura and Peritoneum (ISSPP) to develop consensus statements on cytoreductive surgery with the aim to have a uniform nomenclature for peritonectomy procedures that could be adopted by all surgeons treating peritoneal malignancies, define the subregions of each peritonectomy procedure and their boundaries. The international development group consisting of 21 experts with expertise in CRS was led by Dr. Aditi Bhatt (PSOGI) and co-led by Prof. Olivier Glehen (ISSPP) and Prof. Artem Stepanyan (ESGO). The panel of 112 surgeons provided their votes in several evaluation forms, the rating was carried out using the modified Delphi technique with two rounds of voting. The revised classification was reviewed and approved by Paul Sugarbaker who devised the original classification. His suggestions were incorporated into the revised version. The article is expected to be published in Q2 2025.
